Previously, Krita required users to point to an FFmpeg executable somewhere on their system in order to use many of the features pertaining to video, such as animation video export, video import as animation, and the Recorder Docker for recording your painting sessions. Speaking of the video export option, FFmpeg is a massively important program that manages (among other things) rendering and conversion of audio and video formats. MLT is a proven and flexible framework used by video editing programs like Kdenlive and designed with frame-by-frame synchronization in mind, and should help Krita animators feel confident that their key frames will stay lined up with their voice work or background music, both inside of the program and in their exported animation videos. You can enable and disable all plugins (no matter if they’re pre-installed or custom) in Configure Krita ‣ Python Plugins Manager.In order to fix various audio-visual sync issues when playing animations with attached audio, Emmet and Eoin reworked much of the animation playback to use the MLT framework behind the scenes. If the plugin has any shortcuts, and you imported the action file properly, you can change the shortcuts in Configure Krita ‣ Keyboard Shortcuts. When it’s a docker, you can find it in Settings ‣ Dockers. If it’s an extension, it will be available in the menu Tools ‣ Scripts. Plugins in Krita are either dockers or extensions. Put file pluginname.action into the actions folder. Put file sktop and folder pluginname (instead of pluginname there should be an actual unique name of the plugin) inside the pykrita folder. Go to Settings ‣ Manage Resources ‣ Open Resource Folder. If the plugin is inside a *.zip archive, you need to extract it first. Go to Configure Krita ‣ Python Plugins Manager, find the plugin and enable it. Go to Tools ‣ Scripts ‣ Import Python Plugin…, find the *.zip file and press OK.

Inside the zip file there should be a file sktop and a folder pluginname (instead of pluginname there should be an actual unique name of the plugin). You need to ensure that you have the plugin in a *.zip file.

This method doesn’t always import action files (responsible for shortcuts) correctly.
